I did tai chi back in the day. And in order to begin to feel the flow of qi and start working with it, I needed to practice for 1 hour, being as focused as possible and nothing bothering me. There were no crowds of people around, noise, bright artificial light and other factors. No wonder that man lost. My opinion is that tai chi is good for health, but is of little use for real combat.
