  1. Using taxes to make a strong safety net is not making "equality of outcomes". It's ensuring that people have a base standard of living. Why? Because we all live in this society together, and my life is improved by you not being sick and dying in the street, or being so desperate that you will break into my home for food, or anything valuable to steal so you Can get a meal, or to try and get a roof over your head.

  2. I'm form Québec, and work for Hydro-Quebec. It's based on a communitarian/communist principle, electricity has been nationalized and is non profit. It's far from perfect but we get the lowest priced electricity in North-America and it is world renowned for it's expertise in High Power Energy Transmission over long distances. Some of the principles are good but a total communist regime I oppose with all my will. Human are competitors but for some domains, it's fine to take out competition if it's going to give a better outcome for everyone. Energy is a good sector to nationalize to avoid competition. Car production or any business on the other hand is more suited for competition and subject to the free market. All in all, I'm mostly on the right nowadays but their is no way that electricity will be privatized here under my watch.

  3. In my opinion this guy makes a huge leap from "people think it's all nurture…" to "social safety net doesnt work"
As I view it, just because Im the only who can hunt doesnt mean that Im the only one who can/should eat meat. I do understand why people might think otherwise though

  4. I am in Australia, we have socialised capitalism. We do Capitalism with a Government that regulates things heavily to allow for medicine free for all. University is accessible for all, the poor are not people who don't work hard enough they are people that with support will be come capitalists. At the same time we have the same economy as the US. We are so US centric that people from the US say, man its like being in the US 20 years ago with nice people! And we are only nicer because we take care of the weak more. Its part of our culture.
