looking back on this 1/2 a year later… after GSP beat bisping why not let GSP not fight whittaker and let GSP take on woodley instead. why not. what diff would it make. i'll bet GSP could have beaten woodley. i'll bet GSP could have taken woodley down and pounded woodley on the ground and that GSP would have won that fight. why insist that GSP defend the MW belt before taking on woodley. i don't see that it matters. they let stars come back into champ fights. they let champs go up or down in divisions to fight for the title. so after GSP beat bisping why not just let GSP fight woodley for the 170 title w/o defending the MW belt. woodley would have been the weaker link for GSP than whittaker i think and i think what would it matter if GSP fought woodley. why not.
You cannot say from a “who is the best mma fighter” standpoint that Woodleys performance wasn’t beautiful. It was masterful. He stuffed the best grappler in MMA’s takedowns over 20 times. As a fan, yeah I wanted to see Tyron KO him after the 2nd or 3rd round. But as a martial artist, watching it was beautiful. It had me in awe that Tyron was able to dismantle him that easily
