theres many arguments against min wage. this convo scratches the surface. unskilled elderly get fired because they cant keep up. i saw an older lady working off the clock in a deli because she wanted to pace herself and still keep her job. less employment, less consumption (sales), higher prices. higher cost of locally sourced goods: higher prices. im not sure min wage improves anyone's buying power. without internships employers want you to go to school which is often less efficient than just working a few days for free. bring back on the job training. employees often work 2-6 weeks and quit for a better job, screwing the employer who becomes more cautious.
not enough jobs, wages bid down. instead of correcting problem we make it worse by destroying and exporting jobs. this is a cleansing of the unskilled. when a homeless person dies who wanted to work, the blood is on our hands. noble innocent life remanded to the gutter to suffer, so people WITH jobs can possibly make a little more real income.
A minimum wage can also boost the economy since it can increase the spending.
