When Venus and Serena were 18 and at the Aussie open, they were walking around and made the claim that they could beat a ranked male player of sufficient status. There was a German player standing nearby who was ranked #206 in the world, and he offered to play them both for one set apiece.
He showed up the next day to play, having just come from playing 18 holes of golf, played and beat them both 5-1 and 6-0. He destroyed them each. He smoked during the match.
Serena exclaimed after the match that he was routinely returning shots that few to no women players could return.
And Billie Jean King was the top ranked womens player while Riggs was over fifty and was basically retired from the sport.
Billie jean won the battle of the sexes but she dropped like 3 games a set to a 55 year old
