One person was mentioned taking offense to girls wearing ear hoops. Well in Indian religion our gods also wore ear hoops. Indian men wore ear hoops. So many elements are similar. These kids need to put their head down and study or get a serious job. We are staring at a global recession, climate change, epidemic and so many other issues that pose a real threat to humanity. How does cultural appropriation fit help humanity?
This is the dumbest conversation I’ve seen in a long time. White peoples are sad since they don’t have culture so they have to vulture it. I’m not surprised Joe would have this convo with another white man. Since they are the ones who would agree with him. Cultural appropriation is an issue because people take from culture the very things they made fun of/criticized. Then 10 years later it’s trendy when y’all do it. We will continue to criticize until y’all let us leave. But you can’t because white people have no ideas of their own but control/stealing.
Well next thing should be non-mexicans have no right to go Mexicans restaurants and enjoy Mexicans food. I wonder how this would go for those Mexicans restaurant owners and Mexicans chefs. Good luck with that
Those cultures that come to the Americas and adopted our ways (my lineage included) were never called out about being appropriated, it's actually welcomed. This is just another form of control for people's whose lives are out of control, that end up backfiring in their faces. Not everything has to be a thing.
Cultural appropriation is a ridiculous concept. If we went along with it, Christmas trees are European cultural appropriation. Halloween is cultural appropriation. The names of the days of the week are cultural appropriation. Christianity is cultural appropriation. Language is cultural appropriation. The calendar is a cultural appropriation.
