Pre-contact Native Americans did not believe in multiple genders despite what young radical Indigenous activist/academics push. What they didn't do is ridicule, ex-communicate, harass, or discriminate against homosexuals. Instead, they were looked upon as having a binary perspective to offer; hence the term Two Spirit. They often held an honored position in the community because of their uniqueness. It was Christianity that perverted the mind and soul in this regard.
