Inspiring Philosophy did a video explaining it. In it, he says that book isn’t about testing Job’s faith, but that Job is relying on his good works to earn God’s favor and blessings. In other words, he became a moralist. His views aren’t that much different from the prosperity gospel preachers who also got the view of God wrong. It became more about having God’s rewards instead of having a relationship with God. God’s blessings and grace of salvation are gifts. It is because he is good and merciful. We can’t earn his blessings. “For it is by Grace you have been saved and not of your own doing. Through faith and not of works lest any man should boast.
