Also, if he believes that an alien race would be so advanced that they wouldn’t be interested in us, who is to say that they aren’t advanced enough to wipe our phones or confuse our sensors? Or they know we now have them and are more careful about being spotted? I can’t believe his simplistic view on the possibilities.

Come on Neil. You can’t possibly really think any other life form, regardless of how advanced they are, wouldn’t be interested in us, especially if life is as rare as we think it is. No matter how advanced we become, the first we’re going to do is find other life. What are we going to do when we find other life? We’re going to study it. Maybe we decided to take the Prime Directive to heart and don’t interfere with their natural development. Maybe we stick to the shadows to observe… it’s not outlandish to think an alien would want to observe us.
