Joe's humility is what I admire most about him.
What blows my mind most about the net neutrality issue is that what the flying fuck was wrong with the internet in the first place? The internet is as free as it will ever be and to pretend it needs changing is oddly misguided. It is true that many regions of the U.S. are monopolized by certain service providers but that has absolutely nothing to do with net neutrality. That has to do with the government allowing hundred billion dollar mergers and biased legislation in favor of multi billion dollar established companies. If you think a small business is gonna sprout up in shitsville, Alabama to compete with a company that has more money than some countries than you're dumb as fuck and/or have no realistic interpretation of how the fucking world works.
The oversight can come from private businesses, instead of government. The isp wouldn't have to be transparent, but if they are then consumers benefit by having more info to use when deciding. It's kind of like a critic.
Large Private companies don't want net neutrality because they can't make more money at the current rules. It's unnecessary greed and control. The argument that the government can't do its job right is false, look at freeways, military, or social security.
