they dont have to do it of they dont want to. they can take out a huge loan and pay it back like everyone else.
huh?? "college athletes"? ya mean, the very very few who play sports that generate revenue, at schools where that revenue is generated? [even football doesn't make money at most places. look it up.]
and if they're "getting pimped out," why are they so eager and desperate to get in on it? they're free to not go, right? get a job at home depot instead, go to their local community colleges, or learn some skill/trade?
paying major college football/basketball players, which could at least be argued is fair and reasonable (not to mention the "free education" often wasted on them, let's face it), will INEVITABLY end with paying spoiled white kids at "elite" colleges playing lacrosse and tennis. it's sad enough such "athletes" don't pay tuition in the first place..

they're not getting pimped out. Sure the money is capitalized by the school, but by all means they're a student first than. If you go with this mind set than we should just have kids taking the athletic route since they're born than. That's what communist countries does.
Think it was BusinessWeek did an analysis of Johnny Manziel's net benefit to Texas A&M just during his senior year… the increase in licensing, ticket sales and endowments was over $300M dollars. Pretty sure Manziel didn't get that much value from his college education…
