I just kinda assumed going in to The Last Jedi that there was an overall story arc that JJ and Ryan Johnson would adhere to. And what I found instead is that Johnson was given free reign to go in and do a lot of dumb shit. Not a terrible movie, but it dragged badly in the first act. The whole slow chase sequence with the threat looming of them running out of gas… really?!? The side quest to the casino planet accomplished absolutely nothing, did not further the plot in any way. And as Joe mentioned – they tiled the place with "strong" female characters. Princess Leia was a boss in the original trilogy, AND was feminine all the while. How insulting to basically say to women that you can't be feminine and strong at the same time. Anyway, I never thought I would say this but I might be missing George Lucas…

The one thing I disagree with is people saying forced diversity ruined the film, yes the film was diversified, but the godawful writing was done before the film was cast
Anyway Women were running the original rebellion, the difference is it wasn't as in your face as it is in this film
