  1. In my mind an internet service provider is like a gas station. I have bought the car, and I have a destination. The gas station provides me with the gas to get to said destination. It doesn't dictate where I can go or what I can do with the gas, but it provides me with it. It makes money by making deals with partners to offer OTHER services and promotions that make me want to come back to buy THEIR gas.

Now I have paid to have my house fitted with a fiber connection, I have bought the modem and router and now I have a destination. If you are now going to tell me I need to pay extra on gas because I want to go south instead of north, that isn't exactly fair in my mind.

  2. I call BS. If you live within the U.S., you have several options. People always bring up broadband when this topic comes up however, their's competition with cellular services on the market. You don't like your cell service, you can go to their competitors. I would agree with a monopoly of cable providers if that was the only options which it isn't. This is nothing more than screaming fire before it goes a blaze.

  3. I'm not concerned about my ISP trying to censor or redact parts of the net. I'd just switch to a different provider that isn't doing that kind of crap. I /am/ however worried about the FCC pulling the same stunt. It's a lot harder to switch governments.
