When all of this was happening, I was trying to let people know what was really at stake and was called crazy. As a business owner, this really made me nervous for a lot of reasons. Imagine you owned a little paint store and began to noticed that business started to slow. Come to find out that your ISP (internet service provider) in your area has been redirecting traffic away from your store to say Lowes or The Home Depot because those companies have paid the ISP to send home and garden searches their way. This is where small business simply cannot compete. So the argument of "let the market decide" is already compromised and skewed in favor of big business. This is really just the tip of the iceberg. This could also be applied to education, health, politics, religion and so on. Pretty soon it would no longer be The World Wide Web, but rather The Whoever Paid The FCC Web. That becomes nothing more than an endless commercial instead of the most powerful tool ever created.
