I was a senior in high school when I watched Ric Flair do this promo, and my friends and I were obsessed. I was a huge wrestling fan as a child, but sort of drifted away from it as I hit my teen years. Shortly after my home town finally got cable television, the NWA came back to TBS, and I started watching again a little bit. I knew Flair from the magazines I had as a kid, and growing up in Minnesota, but had no idea how entertaining he was. My love for wrestling instantly returned. My friends and I knew it was not "real", or however you want to put it, but we pretended it was to everyone else with a little wink and a grin. Such great memories.
