  1. Been there! Tuesday, 9/11/2018 9:30 am (yeah really!) wake up, chest burning. Hmmm,, Im having a heart attack! (Previous medic so I know!) lay down and take a nap! (Yeah really! Muscle heads do stupid shit) wake up again about an hour later. Yep, still have heart attack but now its worse! Guess I’ll call 9-1-1. City Rescue comes. Tell me its not a heart attack! I’m like WTF? Ive been a paramedic on hundreds of heart attacks, I’m police, been on a thousand heart attacks! I’m HAVING A F’NG HEART ATTACK!” Nope you can go to hospital if you want but we dont transport so your on your own! I’m like sh-ting my shorts at this point. And arguing with the rescue guys, telling them unplug my ass Im going to the hospital if I can get someone to drive me! Then County rescue arrives. They get called on heart attacks to back up city. They Walk in the door. I recognize one of the medics, his dad used to work with me on PD. (Yeah go figure, thank you god!) he says “hey Dave what’s happening?” “I’m having a full on heart attack and these guys are saying no! He looks at the ekg, checks the monitor vitals in about 3 seconds says “yep, heart attack, lets load up and get our asses in gear” take the city stretcher Im on, all their gear, load me up and rip ass to the ER. City rescue guys are whining at the county like “hey man you cant take our equipment” county like “too bad, you can get it at the ER, cus thats where we’re gonna be” It was full on widow maker, 100% block of the LAD, the major arterial artery! Those are 70% instant drop dead right the F now-fatal! Nope not me! Scoped me up, airlifted best cardiac surgeon in Florida by 2 helo flights from Miami, discovered I had this 40MM blockage in the artery from plaque rupture and it moved down stream in the artery and stopped at an arterial branch. If it got bumped, if I fell, etc, it would have dislodged and killed me in about 30 seconds! Doctor worked for an hour slowly and very carefully setting in 2 ultra modern stents that opened up the artery, 100% recovery! Doc told me later that I have larger coronary arteries than normal. The other 2 were carrying enough blood to keep m heart working and systems working. He could tell I was very fit and knew medical stuff. (I’m 63 at that time) he suggested that my years of long bike riding, swimming, surfing, running, fitness and tactical training with my officers, climbing and just generally doing lots of stuff made my heart better, stronger and larger arteries. SAVED MY LIFE! (Hint; do bike rides, hikes, climbs, in Colorado mountains at 10,000ft. It will make your monster fit!)
