I was just reading about this and biologists have discovered that plants can tell what insects is eating them based the saliva compound then it will send out pheromones to attract other insects that are predators to the ones consuming the plant. Like parasitic wasps to caterpillars. It's mind blowing.
I am a professional Gardener. I actually stumbled on to it after someone noticed the flowers and plants I planted were always happy and never died on them when I planted them. I digress. When I am working and planting and so on its amazing how many Epiphanies and insights just occur to me out of nowhere while I’m Gardening. As if the plants are hooking me up with knowledge and insight as a reciprocal gift for my caring for them. Sounds nuts I know. But I know some shit.
Robots can also send signals that their parts are being damaged but robots aren't in pain. Stress signals aren't necessarily pain. And even if they are in pain, if you truly care for plants 60% of crop production goes to feeding animal's.
