Joe, Do people need to be tested that they’re okay to drink alcohol like you suggest for gun owners to be tested to own a gun? Alcohol-related auto deaths tally up to greater that 30,000 per year. Mass shooting deaths, as horrific as they are, account for about 250 deaths per year. Wake up: the media loves mass shootings. 24/7 weeks-on-weeks coverage, higher ratings. It’s different for the few people per accident killed by an alcohol-affected driver.
Medical malfeasance deaths tally over 250,000 per year. But there’s no commercial drama in these deaths for the media to cover 24/7. Wake the fuck up!
AR-15's are not weapons of war and they are weapon of hunting. Setting aside the baseless and illogical claims 2A only includes guns to hunt with or excludes military-style arms – The actual classification of AR style riles and carbines are "sporting rifles" that has always been their technical classification they are also the most commonly owned hunting rifle in the nation. By which I mean, among people who buy and use a rifle specifically for hunting they buy more AR style rifles & carbines than other other commonly used hunting rifle. And the AR is essentially a civilian model of a military grade gun. That is, it's core features are the same as the M4 and M16 Carbine. Both of those are designed for military purposes. the crucial difference is the m$ and M16 have a selective fire mechanism that allows them to operate as a full-automatic . The AR lacks that feature and can only operate as a semi-automatic rifle. Which makes them functionally identical to the kind of rifle people who know nothing about guns would immediately recognize as a hunting rifle. Like the Ruger mini-14. The only difference is they look very different because the mini-14 has a classic wooden stock instead of the black molded-plastic stock on an AR…. My working theory is people who know nothing about guns and are fine with something like mini-14 but afraid of it's functional twin, like an AR are just racists who believe the blacker something is the more inherently dangerous it is.
