What Douglas Murray doesn't talk about, and what Joe Rogan knows nothing about is that Erdogan (Turkey's President) took the country from a very bad economic situation and gave his people pride in their country. That is why the Turkish people keep reelecting him and why they love him so much. Does he have his faults? YES! Every single person in power is flawed. Is what he is doing to Journalists Justified? NO, and no one is defending that. HOWEVER, you can't say that he is jailing people for no reason.
People forget that around two years ago there was an attempted coup and an assassination attempt at his life, where a renegade group in the military (around 1,000 troupes under a few generals) tried to ILLEGALLY over throw the ELECTED government. Thankfully they where unsuccessful.
A military lead government never serves the people. The most recent example of this is in Egypt. The military over threw the government and installed themselves in power. Egypt's current president (sisi) was the main general in the coup. He now runs Egypt with an Iron fist, executing hundreds and throwing thousands of journalists in prison. When a president gets 96.7% of the vote in ANY election you know somethings up.
