The way you test this theory of your phone collecting your conversations, just talk about subjects with your friends that have nothing to do with you. In a day your ads will reflect this.
After this test I am absolutely sure they are listening to my phone conversations and text messages in an automated way. I am single yet I get diaper ads, because Google hears all the adult diaper ads from the TV commercials. I have so many examples I have discussed with my friends after I get targeted ads for strange stuff after a conversation.
Any convenient source given to us, you can bet your ice cream money there's more than meets the eye.

Bro the problem, for me, isn't that they're listening and tailoring content/ads. It's that they're not doing a good enough job of it.
Prime example is that I'll buy an item that is so clearly a once-in-a-lifetime (x2 for a replacement MAYBE) product but then I'll still get ads for that thing. It's like they're trying to sell me another prostate. Nope, I'm good. Just the one for me but thanks. Lol 😂
