Maybe "luck" is a low resolution answer – but having or meeting someone who understands your abilities, weaknesses and interests is key in achieving what you want is extremely important. How many great talents in all sorts of areas are stuck in a 9-5 job they hate with kids (that the hopefully love) paying rent or mortgage with no realistic chance of even auditioning for a much better paying job they would be good at and love – just because it wasn't presented as a realistic option when they were 20 or 25!?
Weirdly, if you put a couch outside with a sign that says โfreeโ it will sit there forever. But if you put a sign on it that says โ$20โ someone will knock on your door in an hour.
