Porn has been around since art has been around. Have you seen/read Victorian porn? They were into some freaky shit…Queen Victoria, the one people picture as this prudish old lady in perpetual mourning…well, Vicky liked to get down more than anyone. She's a perfect example of Victorian sexuality. It was there, and boy was it raging but it was supposed to be a private matter. On the face of it, everyone was a prude. But behind closed doors, the young generations of the Victorian era were mostly sex crazed.
So I have a hard time believing we've suddenly got this obsession with porn or sex. It's just the fact that we now have a seemingly endless database of porn and people won't stop adding to it. If past societies had access to that kind of porn, I'm sure they'd have developed a lot of the same problems we're facing with addiction now.
