Santeria is Satanic Worship! You have to be nuts to partake in that!
As a Cuban I find it hilarious how easily lured and enthralled Americans/Europeans are by the story book romanticism of Cuba and it’s culture. Although true it’s culture, music, and musicians are unmatched throughout the world, the reality is that life in Cuba is hell for the vast majority of its people. There’s a reason that there are Cubans in every country of the world. They all fled (including Joey’s mother) the hell that is everyday Cuba. The Cuba of today, that foreigners see, is an artificially created tourist trap of smoke and mirrors. The sensuality felt by foreigners is nothing more than cultural novelty. If any one of them decided to live there without an external source of income or safety of foreign citizenship, they’d be singing a completely different song… whilst building a raft. First world people can be so gullible, foolish, and cringy. And the truth is Joey is sooo far removed from Cuba and it’s reality that he is an unreliable and frankly ignorant source of insight on Cuba. He can hardly speak Spanish and completely butchered the translation in the Joel Romero pod cast with Rogan. He knows how alluring and the appealing the Cuban mystic can be so he reps it harder than he probably should.
*Rumba is not Santeria. It’s secular (but may include some references to Orishas (deities) )
It’s Afro cubans culture , i like how they add it with salsa 💃🏾
It also invites crazy cases of pedophilia. So… it's a fine line.
