I don't think Rodney was that underrated as a kid of the 70s and 80s, Joe E Lewis was underrated, who knows about his wife, dr or drinking jokes or even his crazy story today? He was around in the days of Chicago mobs of the 20's and Al Capone was a fan of him, got his throat slit ear to ear in 1927, part of his tongue cut off and carved up on his face and pistol whipped til they cracked his head and put bone fragments in his brain for refusing to extend his stay at a Chicago joint The Green Mill that Machine Gun Jack McGurn hung at and was run by a North Side gang member because he didn't renew his contract for $650 a week and wanted to go elsewhere for a $1000 a week plus a cut of the door. It ended his singing and vaudeville career so he became a comedian after yrs of learning to speak again and was popular in the 40's thru 60's and hung with Milton Berle, Red Skelton and Sinatra. The Joker Is Wild was Sinatras movie about him in 1955. That's what underrated is, Rodney was a f'n rock star to anyone around in the 80s.
