oh god he mentions anime. Now me, I personally am into the old school ultra violent shit. innovative works that define genres and lend themselves to whole sub culture but NOT into the new weeabo- lolita fetish shit.
Understand that manga is fundamentally no different from newspaper funnies. Most mangas are just gags and funny uncomfortable situations. Made for laughs, but the older you get the more your tastes mature and so books cater to those readers as well.
Manga is for adults too and though im not defending pedo fetish sadism but the way it "gets by" is because its viewed like "no victim, no crime" by the public.
It's creepy how they aren't gone or deleted, just hidden better now
