Time is our measurement of existence. It's our own personal ruler (Measuring stick) that we take to school. The Measuring Stick of time has many scales all of which are man made, some relative to the user and some relative to the whole. It's used to measure the moment. It brings order but can be used for chaos. We exist and existed but have not yet existed but will exist in some moment. If we were capable of traversing the moments of existence it would always be what was because of the possibilities of what will be lest fate not be.
