  1. I disagree with this guy. I am from Chicago, it boils down to make good choices. I agree it is a social, economic and cultural problem, but the key is education and parenting. People must learn and embrace American culture. It is not white to enunciate or follow laws, it is not white to sing the pledge of allegiance and face the flag, or it is not nerdy to be a good student. I went to a school that was considered one of the worst in the city, but guess what? I listened to the teachers and learned more than what I needed to make it out of poverty. I learned about the law of the land (When I grew up In Chicago – 1980…all 8th graders must pass the constitution test), I learned the how the economic system works (When I grew up in Chicago – 1981…I had to pass general business in high school), learned social norms (work smart and hard, be polite, stand strong for what is right and be prepared to defend yourself if necessary). Parents must love, and be there for their children. They must ensure their children are prepared to go to school to learn (review their homework, iron their clothes, make them brush their teeth etc…), feed them healthy food (not fast food), and ensure they get plenty of rest (why is an 8 year old awake at 10 pm?). If kids they do not come to school with the mindset of learning, then they will not learn. Chicago teachers are good, there are more crappy students than there are bad teachers. Remember the teachers in America must be certified by their state. It will take generations, patience and an unyielding spirit. They need some service members to become teachers (incentivize them). I was an instructor in the service. I know I can teach IT courses, and help children learn.
