Big gap between Askren's and GSP's grappling!? GSP would smoke Askren one handed in any aspect of an MMA fight lol (gsp also did judo fyi, which further adds some sort of grappling validation)
EDIT: also, khabib at 155 would dominate askren at any weight.
It sucks but when you look at it coldly, Askren seems like a perfect example of what Dana White has been saying for a long time. These guys who dominate other promotions may get hype for their streaks but you never really know how good they are until they step in the UFC with the best guys. Askren went 18-0 outside of the UFC. Some argued he could've always been the UFC champ but was kept out to protect GSP. Since he got in the UFC he's 1-2. And his first fight against Lawler came pretty damn close to be a loss in about a minute. And ended in controversy when the ref mistakenly thought Lawler had passed out. GSP went 21-2 in the UFC… With his two losses avenged…
