I got my first concussion yesterday during boxing sparring. At the beginning of the sparring, the teacher made it clear that it was supposed to be light and not strong, after doing the first sparring, everything went well, I was just taking some strong punches to the stomach.
The second sparring was with a veteran who had had amateur fights… it was clear that I wasn't hitting to hurt and not with all my strength, however, the first punch he hit me knocked me down, he threw a very strong left cross. strong. He saw that he had hurt me and asked for forgiveness for hitting me so hard… I was naive and believed that it might not have been intentional… and then he hit me even harder with a right to the temple. My legs buckled, everything started spinning and I couldn't breathe.
To date, I still feel a bit of headache, confusion, the urge to vomit, and a lot of anger at myself for being so naive. I didn't tell my girlfriend, family and friends. Combat sports are no joke, don't spar hard if you don't intend to become a professional fighter, don't take brain damage for nothing.
I played football for 6 years through youth and through highschool and even I’m scared of CTE and I never even played varsity
I've trained for my whole life but stopped wanting to compete when I realized how good looking I am
