I've only been to Seaworld twice, and both times I went I saw the huge bull Orca that would come out at the end for the big splash, Tilikum. First time, I was probably five or six and I saw him in the viewing area swimming around before he stopped and pressed his snout against the glass where my hand was. He just kept following me from one side to the other.
The second time I went was for my 7th birthday and I was sat right in front of the big stage where the Orcas would lay, you know? When Tilikum came out and got on the stage, we locked eyes and it was like we were soul searching each other. I remember wanting to get up and touch him, but I couldn't. Saw him again in the viewing area after the show and he remembered me. Tili did the exact same thing he did with me the last time I was there. It was that time that I saw the rakes on his body, and he vocalized, and I just broke… Tears running down my face as I kept my head against the glass. We never went back after that, and I never forgot those brown eyes that read my soul.
Keeping orcas and all other dolphins in captivity is truly a stain on humanity.
