They trained her all wrong for that fight. They made her feel over confident to stand in boxing range with a real boxer with a 4" reach advantage. Who does that? She should have been drilling how she's going to secure a take down with holly being so tall and having kicks. Shoot high, trips and throws. Then ground fight for a submission. They made her overconfident and she fought Holly's fight because of it. You never do that, fight into a fighters strong wheelhouse.
Holly Holm should have been a high shot to break her balance and front trip, G&P to an armbar. She could have used some boxing footwork to get close, but high shot and trip to the matt. Chokes and chokes. She literally changed her style to fight another fighters style and try to better her with a 4" reach advantage and boxing experience that is way impressive. Who deluded her to think she could box the right way to fight someone with a large reach advantage. That is Mike Tyson kind of Boxing and I still call for a takedown on Holly Holm G&P at that fight. RR was not her normal self because her coaches trained her too much about boxing. She didn't look anything like kickboxer the way she moved. They taught he garbage and she got smashed by an experienced kickboxer not challenged by a take down. 2 on 1 and bully the hips.
I was saying she was a one trick pony the entire time. It was just like the beginning of UFC when nobody knew anything. The women fighters sucked in the beginning that’s why she did good for 5 minutes. She was used to hype the women’s side. Joe was crazy thinking anything but this.
Any 5’9”, 170 lb man between the ages of 15-45 of average or better physicality that trains with a competent MMA coach for one year would demolish any top female fighter.
Of course, the man would have to have the fighting spirit to continue fighting after getting hit and the willingness to go all out against a female.
It’s not an insult to elite females, it’s just biology.
