This simulation theory actually makes a ton of sense. Because if we really look at our current society, yes we've made great technological and medical strides but the day to day lives of average people hasn't really changed all that much in 30 or so years. Yeah we can watch movies, TV and stream around the world using our phones. But to complete your most basic daily tasks you still have to do most of the same things you needed to do in the 80s. Not to mention none of these advances are going to prevent the inevitable destruction and loss of life due to climate change. My iPhone isn't going to stop those glaciers from melting in the Artic. Elon Musk isn't going to stop those cat 5 hurricanes from ultimately devastating the entire US east coast. So maybe this is a simulation to see how we would handle rapidly approaching catastrophes. idk. Anything's possible.
