He talks about two sides of holiness. One being the holiness which is imputed upon the one who has surrendered by faith, to Christ – and the holiness which we must strive for and achieve. Immediately I discern or feel a contradiction in terms here. We are talking about grace
vworks – or grace AND works. If we can be Holy by our own efforts, then we do not need Christ’s imputed righteousness – and then indeed we are lost. The Holy Spirit does the work of ongoing sanctification within us – as scripture says ‘He who has BEGUN a good work in you is COMMITTED to perfecting (said work) until His return. This was the very first verse that ever impacted me when I came to Christ. Personally He also added to this verse (I know, it’s not scripture or written down, but it was very much from Him to me) . The add-on for me personally at the end of that verse, was “EVEN IF I HAVE TO CARRY YOU”. How do we measure how much holiness we must acquire in order to be granted entrance into Heaven? Even Paul said that a righteous man falls seven times a day…. BUT he is still considered RIGHTEOUS! Otherwise we are talking about a D.I.Y salvation, and no assurance of Heaven. That is false doctrine.I just want to make sure can someone explain holiness in depth so I can know from what I think it is is when we hate sin and live and obey God but if not please let me know
