What about a 60 year old chronically ill woman with no family who has no car and has to pay $950 in rent each month with mounting credit card payment due to paying bills with it and her income is $1115.
Does she have to tithe to have God's favor?
In Malachi 3:5,6,7,8,9, it is clear in these passages that the cursed will be directed and imposed to the caretakers designated to the well being and feeding the Levites (priests, widow, fatherless (orphans or poor) strangers who were cheated, defrauded and deprived of their allotted dues for them. The Almighty God never cursed anyone that did not tithe and offerings. The very controversial topic that most pastors, preachers, teachers, etc twisting the true meaning of Malachi 3:8,9 for the whole intention and purpose for money…not shepherding the flock of God. They are hireling. The shepherds must take care the flock, look after and feed them…because all these wacko pastors, these wacko preachers, these wacko teachers, ect., instead the flock are the ones feeding the wacko pastors, wacko preachers, wacko teachers etc because of their twisted applications and twisted teachings of the scripture. John 10:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18. All these passages cited are the very essence of shepherd. Parallel passages in John 21:15. So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. Correction typho Malachi 3:5. And I will come near to you judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the Lord of hosts. This passage Malachi referencing Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Malachi 3:9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. The clear emphasis that in verse Malachi 3:5 that God will give judgment; and a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the Lord of hosts. Which means whosoever in charge of the storehouse for stocks or stored foods that came from tithes and offerings designated for the Levites (Levites priests) Levites, the hireling,the widow, the fatherless(orphans or poor) and the stranger that are defraud for the benefit and entitlement due them. They were cheated. This is the very essence of robbed God because the storehouse were the tithes and offerings that were already provided ready to be to the Levites, widow, fatherless, stranger and ect. And the robbed and cursed are for the people who defraud and cheated the Levites, widow, fatherless (orphans or poor) and the stranger. The wrong biblical interpretation by mostly false pastors, preachers, teachers and ect… that if you never tithe or offerings you robbed God. This absolutely wrong interpretation of Malachi 3:8…because how can you rob God if you have nothing to give to the storehouse. Aside from God standpoint, HE knows the heart, and the minds of every one, the intentions and motives. He will not force, punish if you never done wrong. God loves pure hearts and minds.
In Malachi 2 who is robbing God ?…. its not the people ….Its the Levite Priests who are misusing the Levitical tithe in the storehouse …. ie the pastors …. the curse is on the levite priests ….not the people …. a little research pays off Seems chuches stealing and misusing offerings is nothing new …..!
footnote …. Levitical Priests were not allowed to own Land … thats why they needed tithes …… That should mean Pastors shouldnt own lands either dont you think . Jesus did tell the rich man to sell everything and follow him didn he .
The Old testament Jews were a theocracy … Tithing was their Taxation System ! …….. They had no king to pay taxes too . I do not believe God expects us to pay Taxes and Tithes on our incomes simultaneously . This is a burden on Christians . And a Fake Guilt Trip by the Clergy . Plenty of Greedy Churches disagree . Malachi is written to Levite Priests ,not the general population ……. a little context is needed . Paul and the apostles supported themselves – Paul a tentmaker …. never took a penny from the churches other than specific offerings on occassions . BTW …. tithing is not an investment strategy either. This is false .
Too many churches use their tithes to buy Jet planes , Limousines , Fancy buildings and entourages of unnecessary Staff . Or $25000 a night Hotel rooms according the Benny Hinns nephew Costi Hinn !!
I dont recall Jesus passing the offering plate when he fed the 5000 or at the sermon on the mount .Never in fact . He had low overheads …. take note Pastors
Jesus told the Rich Man to Sell his possessions , give the money to Him ….. [just kidding ], TO THE POOR !!!! THEN follow him …..
