For me he is polarizing because he mixes nice to have wisdom about psychology with a mix of holier than thou / authority figure attitude and a great deal of bullshit and obscurantism when talking about religion.
He's polarising because he isn't trying to appeal and appease. I'm left socially, I 100% believe that you should call a trans person by the pronoun they see fit, but I completely agree that it shouldn't be a lawful obligation. It's about educating people to a point to understand trans dysphoria and getting people to simply respect one another.
Everyone thinks if they're on the left, they have to be ALL the way on the left, no ability to listen or understand. The same applies to those on the right. People forget that there's an entire middle, a middle which covers a lot of different ideologies, plans, desires and goals than the left and the right.
