It's actually VERY easy to prove that free will exists. The determinist argument (Harris, Sapolsky etc.) is nothing but smoke and mirrors…and the philosophical argument has giant holes in it. Kind of surprising really…that NO-FREE-WILL has lasted as long as it has.

If free will exists, then there would be 100% suicide success rate. People who will to live would be immortal. You cant will your race or circumstances at birth, you cant will someone else to not harm you. Where does free will start and stop? I believe theres an illusion of free will becauee its necessary for coping, and we cant hold whoever gave us free will accountable and punish him, so we do it to each other, the next closest entity.
Acknowledging there is no free will makes a meritocratic society seem a bit cruel.

perhaps not in a global context. they are smarter than probably 90 percent of people… the problem that they have as individuals, is that they can’t discern who the other 5 to 10 percent of people are.
within the subset of truly gifted people, they are absolute dimwits.
not only do they fail to defer to a langan or an aristotle, or even a hoppe or molyneux, they fail to even seek them out. they are establishmentarians through and through. they are rewarded for repeating certain things, and they are so good at it, that they actually repeat what the establishment wants them to repeat, before the establishment tells them to! they recognize patterns and complete them into the future— not exactly repetition, but very repetitive. very boring for anyone with serious cognitive ability. they are dead fish floating along with the current. in 2023, the rational conclusion is this, people who don’t believe in free will, don’t have it. they are weak and lack the ability, to choose to have a meaningful impact on the world around them. they are hyper-replaceable, uniform, bores. the establishment will simply trade out a sapolski or a harris with any number of interchangeable marxist professors. (in b4 “aha, gotcha you dumb christian! “harris isn’t even a marxist” okay, fine, but his attitude, choices, beliefs, positions, align him, with them, and their movement, more often than not. & ftr i’m an atheist, just not an embarrassing “church of modern scientific atheism” choir singing, card carrying, congregation, member.
now run along. i think neil tyson is having an interview with some awful hack, wherein he’ll explain how curt jaimungal didn’t actually embarrass and expose him, but actually he won that casual open conversation somehow… after he turned the conversation into a contentious debate… and was proven wrong… “but it just goes to show” that somehow it proved him right. you don’t want to miss that! yeah, you conformist midwits are right. the problem is those jerks way over on the righthand part of the righthand tail of the bellcurve.
