Current scientific theory says the universe was created 13 billion years ago from an infinitely dense ball of energy. Using science, no one can prove or disprove that God exists. Saying you know for sure either way is a matter of faith. I reject religious fundamentalism, however I refuse to believe there are no eternal truths and our lives mean nothing. If we are just a random blip in the expansion of the universe, there is no right or wrong and love means nothing.
This is some mental gymnastics. He may not call himself an atheist, but he doesn't believe in God. He may not be a militant or aggressive atheist, and be a little more agnostic, but he's still an atheist.

The problem with Atheism is exactly the same problem with Religion – especially the Abrahamic/Semitic Monotheistic ones: The adherents.
