The late mediaeval and early modern periods were marked by a widespread fear of witchcraft and the subsequent persecution of individuals, primarily women, who were accused of being not only ‘witches’, but those who went as far as to copulate with the devil himself. The “Malleus Maleficarum” played a significant role in promoting and legitimising such persecution. After being spearheaded by infamous inquisitors Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger, the text, often referred to as the “Hammer of Witches,” was used as a manual for witch-hunters, providing them with instructions on identifying, interrogating, and punishing witches in the 15th century.

Making this all about women is no accurate history. 1/3rd of the victims were men. Trying to make this a feminist take will have the opposite effect, I say this as a German American. Seriously a terrible topic to try and propagandize, this is how we got to burning people as witch in the first place.
1/3rd of the people killed in the Bavarian witch trials were rich or influential German men. Often accused by jealous young women. The trials escalated when the accused returned the favor, this was followed by spurious and wild claims that escalated everything and no one was safe!
Trying to turn this into a feminist take is an old socialist tactic and if you know anything about the actual history you realize how bad this take is.
Huge problems already evident in the comment section when you tell bad and fictionalized/politicized history. Even down to the depictions of Kramer in the art here as jealous and mean spirited. Feminists in the comments are now completely unaware that yes – some women did poison men for their inheritance, left babies to die alone in the forest, and made black candles from grave wax. I also see the equivalent on the opposite side of the spectrum in the comments who now idolize Kramer and think lying and getting society to turn in women how it turned on men won’t just hurt everyone. This video should be taken down and edited – very bad job. The Bavarian witch trials, this topic is up there with the Holocaust and the Mongol invasions in terms of the danger it can pose if mistold!
In my opinion as a Catholic, the Malleus Maleficarum is a black book, written in hell, as black as any of the “spell books” written by the vile women who, yes, did exist and still exist. Be good, do good works people, put love into the world. Remember what Gandalf said!
This video also does not mention the fact that the Catholic Church officially condemned the book as unethical and false only three years after it appeared.
Imagine women writing books like this about men in this time era; they'd all flip thier fking lids lol
