Kratom is a terrible fucking addiction. Most people think it's harmless or doesn't have withdrawals. Over the 7-8 years of my constant, daily addiction I've taken easily 500 kilograms. Had withdrawals for well over a year after quitting during my 2 year sober stint. Long rant but it's not harmless. Maybe if you're already addicted to heavy opioids but this stuff is poison for most healthy people.
