  1. I went through a crazy SIX interview process to become a manager at RED LOBSTER who is based out of florida which then was a ZERO TOLERANCE STATE. INTERVIEWED w everyone from regional manager to hr and a polygraph. Received an offer letter of $45k to start as an am to train in florida but needed one more step… A PISS TEST! I FAILED. Got a call from darden restaurants and was told i had thc present and asked if i could explain. Told him i hadnt smoked. Had been to a concert where everyone was smoking in the last week. Within HOURS i got a fed ex letter on red robin letterhead saying "unfortunately, we have to recind the offer due to the presence of thc"! I STILL have the letter and refuse to piss test EVER AGAIN! Its inaccurate and an invasion of my humanity! FK THAT!

  2. I can't believe the Alexander and Ann Shulgin were using drugs into their later years. When I read about them, I was feeling like ok the 80's were crazy, but I'll probably live.

    Some people know exactly what to do and what not to do with great control. Some of us are really built differently and it's a trainwreck waiting to happen. There are many types of addicts. We definitely need a different approach to drugs.

    Drug testing is a controversial issue. I have been drug tested many times and it has barred me from employment in weird ways. It is a terrifying experience when your just a pot smoker. You know your qualified, but you are fearing the drug test. The fear you give off is a certain nervous energy. They can sense that like cops do and then they pull the exam on an employee. It is wrong and it has done damage to certain groups of liberal people.

    If I wasn't as educated, dedicated, almost animalistic about learning to my highest capacity, I'd have gone nowhere in life. Drug testing would have barred me from even thinking I could do something in life. It isn't fair, because it is just Blacks and Liberals. I understand where they are coming from. Most construction companies don't want to take a chance. But you might be chucking a very talented employee for a really stupid reason. Marijuana has no hang over and will not effect your motor skills within 45 minutes of using. Certainly not the day after.

    There should be saliva tests for some workers. I know this is an invasion, but we need to test and make sure we don't have any "wake and baker's" out there. You cannot use within 8 hours of working in a dangerous environment. You can smoke before bed and then you should have to show saliva test of 8 hours clean time. Urine analysis isn't time sensitive enough. I can't have scaffolding erectors in NYC smoking at lunch or coming in high. It is not as much to ask for a swab of the inside of your cheek than to urinate.

    If you operate a crane, you will be random tested and you really have to be sober to operate crane. You really cannot drink either. Friday night is crane operator's happy hour. It is a 64 hour test for alcohol. So, if you drank alcohol during work, they can tell if you have an accident investigation. If a real accident happens and drugs are the reason, OSHA says to test the whole site. Knowing when to use is very important and it isn't the same for everyone. If you drive an excavator, crane, boom tuck you have to be sober. There are some jobs where there is a 0 tolerance and for good reason. We shouldn't do this to regular folks. You're going to test a Jamaican carpenter? We'll be missing those guys on drywall, big time. If you are welding, brazing pipes dealing with fire, I should be able to swab a guy if I see him intoxicated. If the guy lights his marijuana cigarette with his brazing torch, I should be able to take him out of the building immediately. It is actually a complex issue. Your not going to test those Jamaican guys like your not going to test Conor McGregor.
