It's gotten much worse. The wealthy white areas and expensive shopping areas have police parked on every block 24/7 with their blue lights on. Whenever there's an emergency they immediately block the roads into those neighborhoods. The animals have taken over. The trains are no longer safe. The city hired private security companies to "patrol" them but their employees are all thugs themselves who do absolutely nothing. The red line train is a ghetto flea market of loose cigarettes, stolen alcohol, marijuana, etc. The most violent train station, statistically, is Belmont, on the north side. Not on the south or west side.
What would be the feasibility of Bezos or Musk pouring 4 billion dollars into rebuilding & equipping all the Elementary & High Schools on the south side of Chicago? Give these kids a nice place to grow & learn. See if this makes a difference in their lives, having something to be proud of. A "Social Experiment", if U will.
