the pope was actually good friends with galileo, he had him imprisoned on a vatican estate to keep him safe from the mobs of outraged peasants that wanted to burn him at the stake as a heretic. He thought he could publish the stuff he had had conversations with the pope about because the pope was an enlightened guy, but he also warned galileo not to knowing what would happen if he did. So this pissed off galileo and he published it anyway and he cursed out his friend the pope so of course this pissed off the small superstitious uneducated folk, so the pope even though he was mad at him didnt want him executed by a mob had him thrown and put under guard at one of his villa, so its not like he was tortured and put in fetters in some dungeon.

just say "did you go bibbledy" 20:00 i have been saying for years that when we finally encounter little green men and we explain we light big fires under tin cans to get into space, they are going to be doing on hell of an eyeroll, there has to be a better way to get off planets than blowing stuff up.
i'm 66 and this is the first time i've heard the explanation for throwing up due to dizziness. of course once you hear it – perfect sense, but the idea your brain is going "dizzy alert, psychadelics, vomit" is novel to me.
personally i think we might well be alone in the universe, it's not arrogance, and i know the statistics, but as with all things it's a logic problem not an emotional one, we have to assume we are all there is and get out there colonizing, not just our solar system, but as much of the galaxy and universe possible, cos if there is nothing else, poor lonely cosmos if we go extinct.
