  1. It’s funny being here in hindsight hearing Rogan talk about telling streaming services no for his podcast. And everlast was of course spot on when he said that he was sure a deal was out there but it would require exclusivity. But when you consider that Spotify obtained the rights to the show exclusively for around three years and that The NY Times has come out saying that the deal was worth at least $200M, with potential for Joe to make more.

You’d think that if there are bonuses for how the show performs that Joe has to have been hitting some. I believe it’s been Spotify’s top thing by far basically the entire time. Who knows what the true number actually is but I remember when the news broke that it was worth $100M that a lot of his friends said that it was a lot more than that. And I can’t fault the decision to do it. Instead of fielding ads and the like Joe just makes the show and has a guarantee of over $60M a year for it. And in the end if he gets sick of the Spotify deal he can easily just go back to doing what he was before.

But I don’t see why he’d be sick of Spotify. They’d stick with him through all the attempts to cancel him off the platform and let him keep the show as it’s always been. Has to be a great deal for Rohan, especially considering how this whole thing even started as just a hobby to talk shit with his friends.
