Joe has this idiotic mindset because he was practically given the cheat code to hunting game. He has never had to scout and land nav a single day in his life fucking life. He does not know how much work needs to be put in to find hidden productive areas for hunting/fishing.
This is why nobody knows where my hunting spots are. If I put the work in, chances are you were never going to find it. So, yes it is public land, but you didn't know about it until I showed you, so have respect for the work your friend did to find it.
There’s something about coming into an area before the season and scouting it out and finding a great new spot. It’s one of the many things to love about hunting/fishing. Joe (like a lot of people in LA) are only interested in the final stage. The kill. The glory. The trophy photo. But hiking around and scouting new areas is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of being a hunter. There’s nothing like finding a potentially awesome new spot. This literally just happened to me the other day. I found what looks like an awesome spot; near a creek, tons of white oak trees (and other food sources) around and a big hill with trees that I can climb into overlooking the entire area with multiple lanes to fire. I’ve already seen multiple deer (and turkey) at this spot.
I would be so pissed if I took a buddy out there and he told a bunch of people about it and all of a sudden every time I drive out there it had people in it.
I hate how he laughs at us and makes fun of the fact that someone could care so much about something like that. It’s just further proof that he isn’t a true sportsman. As others have pointed out, Joe has never put that work in to scout an area, etc. He goes on guided hunts where a professional leads him to a good area, calls in the animal and tells Joe when to shoot. Joe’s sole job is to take the shot. That’s it. But there is so much more to being a hunter/sportsman than that. That is the culmination of a lot of work. It makes the final shot that much more intense and the joy that much greater. Joe will never understand that. Too bad for him because it’s awesome.
