  1. Many Canadians have a lift at the end of sentences. Especially those who speak French as their mother tongue. Even if my English is flawless , Americans pick up on it right away. Brits have that lift too, I think. I think that speaking English without a regional "bent" might eventually lead to this lift.

  2. I think this derives from LA Valley accents from the 80s. I grew up in the valley. Sounds like a mutation of it. The kardashians do this to the extreme, and my guess is youtubers followed. Ironically, the kardashians were brought up in the valley. Mayhe some connecting tissue there.

  3. It's a bit like the verbal equivalent of the preface "if I'm being honest" or the long, drawn out "hooonnneeessstttlllyyy??????? before voicing a stellar opinion.

    Setting you up for the wisdom that's about to be preached? Letting you know? They are unsure of their statements? Holding off your reply with an audio finger in the air like you're a first grader? So you know they are still talking? Despite them adding nothing of substance?
