Joe Rogan insists the CPU slow down occurs when the new models come out and that but the truth is that it kicks as your battery gets degraded. He will not say that because honesty doesn't attract as many people, people like to feel morally outrage and that is what he sells.
You gotta realize the difference in marketplaces between Android and Apple: with an Android phone they make the vast majority of their money before your phone leaves the phone store. The sooner you have to buy a new handset, the sooner they see another dollar from you.
On the Apple side, they intend to make money from you as long as you're using an Apple device, so they try to make that thing last as long as possible so you continue to buy their services.
If your battery goes critical on an Android phone it's time for celebration: you'll probably ditch the phone – which has gotten too slow because Android SoCs were marginal to begin with and more recent OS versions have eaten up whatever processing capacity the phone had – and go back to the phone store and buy a new one.
Apple's SoCs are so powerful they can last a bunch of generations of the OS, and slightly slowing the CPU to keep it from overdrawing from the battery and suddenly shutting down will still leave you with a usable experience (if less stellar than when the phone was new).
Apple should've announced what their engineers had done to keep the phone from shutting down catastrophically but they didn't – probably wanted to avoid a bunch of angry users demanding that Apple replace the battery because it was defective. – even though it was really just worn out.
So much bs 'premium' speak from all these companies, and I couldn't give a rats ass about half of it because all these 'features' represent a compromise on essentials when I have professional solutions to these supposed features already. Normie tech at its worst.
