I think it's a bit sad that you would feel like a failure if your wife earned more than you. It shows a lot of insecurity in your manhood. The mother of my daughter gave up her career to look after our kids, which was hard for her because she was talented and ambitious, but she wanted them to grow up in a "normal" family dynamic because her upbringing had been crazy and she got bullied because of it.
