  1. This is an interesting story and read about this a bunch of times previously. Not to sound superstitious myself, I do in fact have an interesting theory that could be valid even in today's standards. The TB outbreak was bad and killed many infected across the Northeast US and yes it was at the time untreatable. If you got this disease back then, you would have only a 5-10% survival rate. But this whole thing came out of the blue without any source of regional origin and it's possible that Vampires could've played a role despite these stories being proven wrong. I've been researching Vampire Mythology for a while now and it doesn't add up to me, why would a disease pop up out of the clear blue back then, who or what started it? Granted we don't know what exactly happened unless you read up on documentation but these are serious and legitimate questions left empty for the people 200 years after the fact to fill and still no answers to the heart of the story. If Mercy was truly a Vampire than these beings were true but the speculation has intervened with this theory and the issue was laid to rest too quickly all these years ago. For those who read this or have an opinion or belief, do Vampires truly exist and if so, what clues can trace their origin properly instead of all the superstitious attitude.
