Drugs cause hyper suggestibility – check out Jan Irvin's work. He blows the lid off the whole "psychedelics" (a phrase coined by the CIA) narrative. Historically, drugs were used for 1) inculcation into a tribe/culture 2) in human sacrifice. Jan Irvin renamed them "suggestogens" which is definitely more apt when you read about their real history.
