The Beatles played the Kaiserkeller (Kaiser = Emperor, Keller – Cellar) on Hamburgs Reeperbahn, the main street through the St Pauli red light district, where sailors from the nearby port and all over the world would go to get their rocks off. I was in there in late 60's early 70's, a black painted room with a stage, and a bare floor. A pretty divey place, in a rough neighborhood.
